Author's Note: So I'm eating a bit of crow, here. I claimed the first part was 1 of 2. Um, Apparently I drastically over-estimated my ability to write a short story (I will point out, this was originally supposed to be a drabble. D.R.A.B.B.L.E). Right now it's tentatively 3 or 4 parts, but I'm not committing until it's done. This part is 2500-ish words. Still eventually working towards that prompt from maire_x, honest.
