Herein is a list of all of the projects on my various assortment of back burners, and (if applicable) how many parts remain. Short blurbs will tend to accompany them as well.

I've switched to this instead of a "WIP" list primarily because I have a number of proposed projects which aren't actually started yet. The list is organized by fandom, universe-within-fandom, and alphabetical order. The organization of the list does not reflect priority in terms of when they'll be written.

Updated: 18 May, 2009

Stargate Atlantis )
Torchwood )
Various & Sundry (Less than 3 Fics in the Fandom, Crossovers, Gift!Fic, Etc) )

Anything I'm missing?

This is primarily for [info]loriel_eris, who mentioned that the timeline for Bridges always confused her a bit. Since the "official" chronology page is organized by story arc instead of dates, I wanted to toss up a short "this happened here" overview.

They did what with who?? )

Questions, comments - I'll clarify things, if I can. This is just a really basic overview on what happens when (or at least I tried to make it thus).

Note: This is merely a glance at the major events of the universe, not a comprehensive breakdown nor a projected to-do list. The Bridges Chronology contains a more complete listing of the works in the universe, organized by character arc. There are 4 - Gen (mostly short glimpses into the lives of everyday characters on both sides of the divide), Elizabeth Weir (including her relationship with Ladon Radim), Kate Heightmeyer (focusing on the rebuilding of the mental health of both the individuals and the AE group, as well as her relationship with Brendan Elliot), and Miko Kusanagi (centering around her relationship with Captain Cushman, her former off-world team leader, and a romance of both convenience and misunderstanding). This is just in place to clarify some of the details which aren't explicitly stated in the currently published stories and chrono.

Title: John Smith, ABD
Universe: Bridges
Author: [info]mardahin
Rating: PG
Author's Note: A birthday present for one of the reasons I'm still (mostly) sane, both in and out of fandom - [info]ladyholder. This probably isn't exactly what she had in mind, but I hope she'll like it anyway. Thanks to [info]druidspell for some off-the-cuff editing advice. Roughly 1,600 words. Tied, indirectly, to this, which is the brochure for the conference which follows the one in this fic.

Summary: Conference in Maui, the website said. Bursaries available, the website said. They forgot to mention that it was members only, and John Smith just had one of those names... )

Title: Gone, but not Forgotten 4 (of 6) - Deskbound
Previous Parts: Part 1 - Miko, Part 2 - Bates, Part 3 - Jack
Universe: Bridges
Author: [info]mardahin
Pairing/Rating: Implied Gibbs/DiNozzo, PG-13
Warnings: Well, it's an NCIS crossover. Generally, you need someone to die to land one of those. Not, however, a major character.
Author's Notes: This is a belated birthday present for [info]ladyholder, who wanted both an SGA/NCIS crossover, and more of G,bnF; she also ended up con-critting along the way. Now, as fair warning, this is my first NCIS piece. It's set somewhere in late 2006/2007, but the only spoilers are casting-related (since I haven't seen S3 or 4 yet). While basic knowledge of the Bridges universe in general (and G,bnF in particular) is useful, it is not essential to enjoy this.

Summary: Tony hated desk duty. )

Title: Bridges Snippet - Sheppard & the GGDP
Universe: Bridges
Rating:PG
Author's Note: Written in response to a prompt from [info]kari_hermione, although I took a bit of liberty. This is a piece of the Bridges future that was plotted, but I wasn't sure was ever going to see the light of day as more than just base concept. ~400 Words.

Summary: When a second email marked 'urgent' showed up at the end of the week, John finally got around to reading it. Then he read it again. Then he called Carson, and explained that the joke wasn't funny. )

Title: Scenes From a Tokyo Romance - Messages
Universe: Bridges
Author: [info]mardahin
Rating: PG
Pairing: Miko/Cushman (OMC)
Author's Note: First (not chronologically, just in terms of publication) in a series of scenes from the life of Miko Kusanagi in the years following the Alliance. Spun off from a prompt courtesy of [info]aella_irene. References events in Normal is What Everyone Else Is, and You Are Not. 825 Words.

Summary: The sense of dread was ridiculous; she'd faced down McKay in full rant, she'd lived through three - three major bombardments while in Atlantis. Her mother shouldn't be this terrifying. Theoretically. )

Title: Healed, But Never Whole
Author: [info]mardahin
Rating: PG
Pairing: Kate Heightmeyer/OMC
Author's Notes: Written for the "Return" prompt on [info]sga_flashfic. This piece is indirectly set in the Bridges universe, but like my other flashfics in that universe it's a sideline and not main plot arc. This can also be read as a sequel to Fibrosis, but it's not actually necessary to read that first. Spoilers, obviously, through "The Return", but going AU as of the end of part 2. 1,300 words.

Summary: It had been far too long since she'd had a casual one-night-stand...

Title: Gone, but not Forgotten Part 3 - Jack
Previous Parts: Part 1 - Miko, Part 2 - Bates
Universe: Bridges
Author: [info]mardahin
Rating/Pairing: PG. Gen. Disgustingly Gen.
Author's Note: This wasn't at all what I'd expected to write when I sat down to pen the "Seoul/Tokyo Inter-branch, Inter-National, Big Gay Love Affair (that wasn't)". It just sort of happened. It still slots into GbnF, though. Blame [info]ladyholder. Also, bear in mind that I wrote this while suffering rather severe sun poisoning after spending 8 hours wiring air conditioning units on a black rubber roof.

Summary: Jack O'Neill was starting to hate his email... )

Title: Gone, but not Forgotten Part 2 - Bates
Previous Parts: Part 1 - Miko
Universe: Bridges
Author: [info]mardahin
Rating: PG
Pairing: It's gen. If you squint really hard, it's Bates/OFC, but it's more friendship than anything else.
Author's Note: So this was supposed to be a series of 1-2000 word ficlets (GbnF). Except this one is 4,000 words. I'm not quite sure how that happened. Spoilers for The Return if you squint, just like the rest of the Bridges stuff. A look at those left behind when Atlantis went rogue.

Summary: No phone calls, no letters, no communication of any kind for six years, and then suddenly BOOM! There was Susan and her really expensive townhouse and her shiny new teaching position at AU. )

Title: Lessons Learned
Author: [info]mardahin
Beta: [info]wymsie
Universe: Bridges
Pairing: Background Elizabeth Weir/Ladon Radim.
Author's Note: Apparently I'm on a roll, or something. This (like my other "Masks & Masquerade" submissions) is set in the Bridges universe, but doesn't require any detailed knowledge of it. The only thing you need to know is that after "The Return Part 1", Atlantis split away from Earth and Elizabeth Weir orchestrated an alliance against the Wraith with several of their former allies. Well, and that a year into the alliance, she started sleeping with Ladon Radim (for more detail on that, click here), but that's minor in the scope of things.

Image is everything. Or at least, it was.

Title: Fibrosis
Author: [info]mardahin
Beta: [info]wychwood
Universe: Bridges
Rating: PG
Author's Note: While this is within the Bridges universe, you don't have to read the main pieces of that universe to follow this (The Glimpse about Kate will fill in a gap or two, but it's certainly not needed to enjoy this). Written for the [info]sga_flashfic challenge "Masks & Masquerade"; although it takes a little squinting, this really is about perceptions and what's underneath. The title, Fibrosis, is the technical term for the tougher, thicker epithelium commonly known as scar tissue.

Summary: When Kate Heightmeyer was six, she fell off her bike and ripped up the skin on her right knee

Title: Normal Is What Everyone Else Is, and You Are Not
Author: [info]mardahin
Quick-Beta: [info]commodoremarie
Universe: Bridges
Rating: PG
Characters: Miko, Others
Author's Note: While this falls within the Bridges universe, knowledge of said universe isn't necessary; this takes place within the time period referenced in The Return Part 1, which is before Bridges branches off. The title comes from a quote in "Star Trek: Generations" regarding the definition of normal. Written for the [info]sga_flashfic challenge "Masks & Masquerade". 1,241 words.

Summary: For her first two weeks back in Tokyo, Miko lived with her parents.

A quote from the future of the Bridges Universe.

  • "These things, they just happen. Cena said nothing about it being bad time of month. Nothing. *Mutters in Czech* I do not like children. I have two. How does this happen?"

    • Radek Zelenka, on his status as a parent.
Cena is his wife, a Pegasus Native.

The sad thing? He's being 100% serious. And there weren't even any Ancient Devices involved, just the fact that he's an engineer.

GIP. And Icons. All [info]rokeon's fault.
You may or may not recall the Brochure I did as part of 14 Valentines this year. It was advertising the second annual gathering of those left behind on Earth when Atlantis seceded. One of the events listed was a paintball tournament.

This led to jokes about how Miko takes her paintball very seriously. So [info]rokeon said that she'd make me a Miko icon. She hasn't gotten around to it, and I finally gave up the ghost and invested some time and made it myself.

Then I decided what the hell, and made advert/support icons for all of the teams in the paintball tournament.

Go! Team! Go! )
Um, enjoy? Also, for those who missed it the first go-around, the brochure can be found here.

Title: Gone, but not Forgotten Part 1 (of 6) - Miko
Universe: Bridges. Direct sequel to Glimpses of the Edge.
Author: [info]mardahin
Rating: PG
Characters: Miko, Captain Cushman (OMC)
Author's Note: This series is billed as the sequel to Glimpses, but in reality it's more like a dark cousin. It will, through the course of six 'snapshots', explore the world of those left behind on Earth when Atlantis rebelled - either due to obligation or a lack of opportunity. Some of these are humorous, and some are serious. Appropriate warnings will surface as needed.

Summary: 'Are you married, Cushman?' 'No, sir. I mean, I don't think so.' )

*Takes deep breath and calms self* Sorry. That was the stress talking.

I should be writing.

In fact, I fully intend to be writing within the next few minutes (once I throw the brownies I shouldn't be baking into the oven).

I even intend to be writing one of the two WIP pieces that I was supposed to have done by midnight PST tonight.

However. My brain is demanding an icon. I am putting up this request in an attempt to satisfy it.

What I want it to say: "Miko=Love. Ninja!Miko=Scary Love"

Yes, it is inspired by Miko Kusanagi, Paint-Ball Psycho. (Erm, if you don't know? Please don't ask. It's something that has spun way out of control from an off-hand joke).

Do it however you feel inspired to. Just please, I'm begging here. Someone create this so I don't have to?

Title: Gone But Not Forgotten: Alternative Cultures in an Unchanging World
Rating: PG
Author's Note: This kind of...grew...from a bit of late night speculation with [info]ladyholder. She gets fair credit as co-author, or at least co-conspirator. Thanks to [info]shrewreader for organizational consult. Set in the Bridges Universe.

Valentines Advert: The Official V-Day Project

Summary: The brochure for the second annual gathering of 'Pegasus Survivors' - Those left behind when Atlantis broke away and the Alliance was formed. Held January 14-20, 2009

I give you an impromptu plotting session, which should never ever have taken place right now since I have to have 2 Valentines concluded in, oh, 24 hours, but happened anyway. Alexi is [info]ladyholder.

Blame Alexi. Seriously. )

So, um, yeah. Should I fic it? I think it might make a nice military companion to Glimpses of the Edge, or even just more of a “6 months later” corollary.

Title: Before, Between, and After
Rating: PG
Pairing: Gen
Author's Note: Another of the Bridges pieces. This universe wasn't designed to be Elizabeth-centric, but hers were the stories that demanded to be told first. A look at the parts of Elizabeth that we don't see onscreen. That we can't see.

Valentine's Advert: Economics & Wealth

Summary: But if Pegasus had taught Elizabeth anything, it was that no victory came without a price. She hadn't realized that the cost of protecting Atlantis would be her soul. Set in the Bridges Universe.
